That’s right. Winter has started with a bang here in Austria. Spending a lot of time on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier in Kaprun I must say this is one of the best early season conditions I can remember… And it looks like it has been an amazing start to winter all around the globe…
What’s on my agenda this winter?
At the moment I am working for the Ski Instructor Academy in Kaprun. It is a big ski instructor training program and we have guests from all over the world who are being trained in the Austrian Ski Instructor System. These conditions truly help to enjoy the skiing even more and the views from the Kitzsteinhorn make it easier to stand in the lineups on the mountain. It seems like everyone is getting more hyped about skiing early in the season and the people are desperate to ski. Sometimes I find it funny that people don’t enjoy the late season powder with great coverage below as much as just a bit of “dust on crust” in November… But hey, if you are willing to destroy your equipment early on, I am not complaining if nobody wants to ski the late season pow, it gives us more time to play in spring 🙂
The views from the Kitzsteinhorn are simply amazing:
In December I will start working for the Outdo Ski School in Zell am See. After working at the Ski Austria Academy in St. Christoph at the Arlberg last season, it is time for a change and get back to the stamping ground Zell am See. I am really looking forward to this new chapter and spending more time with my friends and family here in Zell am See again. The main ski resort is the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See. Not anywhere as big as Whistler or the Arlberg region but it is one of the nicest mountains to ski at. The views down the old town of Zell am See and the lake are breathtaking and on a good weather day you can see more than 30 peaks over 3000meters high.

Late season trip
It has become a regular thing to do for me now to go on a ski touring trip at the end of the regular ski season. After last years banger No Way – Norway! it is time to head back up north and give it another try. Not sure if we can top last years trip but that scenery and snow was incredible and my friend and mountain guide Andreas got another group of people together to head up there again! Interested to join? Let me know 😉

Skiing – early season reminder
Now it is time to focus a bit on your own skiing.
Yes, it is early season and everyone is excited and might have forgotten a couple of things from last year. Have a look at this ski tip from my buddy Josh about upper body stability. He has his ski tips in a minute serious and everyone can spare a minute to get some input on their own skiing… 😉
That’s it for now. Have a safe start to your season!
See you on the snow,
